SUMMER
FUN
FISHING
Fish for rainbow, brook, brown and lake trout, bass, pike,
perch, pickerel, and salmon from a boat in the many lakes or try fly
fishing in the many rivers. Fishing
licenses are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased at several
places in town. The boat launch is 3 blocks from the cottages.
If you want to keep your boat in the water overnight, you
will need to dock it at the marina. Schroon Lake (formerly Maypine) Marina is about half mile north on Rt. 9.
You can also rent a boat the marina.
HIKING
There are numerous hiking trails in
the Adirondacks of varying difficulty for the beginner (or the
family with young ones) to the advanced backpacker.
All offer remarkable beauty that is characteristic to the
area.
There
is as mountain biking trails for those who like to take the trails
at a faster place. Gore

(1/2 hr drive) rents mountain bikes and offers a gondola to get you
to the top in a hurry for an exciting ride down..
THE BEACH & MORE
A quick stroll to the beautiful
sand beach will give you a magnificent view of the mountains, while
you swim in the waters of Schroon Lake.
The beach is free and there are lifeguards on duty.
They also offer inexpensive swimming lessons.
There are Adirondack chairs, restrooms & changing
facilities, as well as a small playground.
Or maybe you want a little more adventure…rent a boat at
Maypine Marina (half mile north on Rt. 9) and water ski, tube, or
knee board (These can be rented too). You can also rent a canoe, sailboat or kayak to soak in the
scenery.
EATING
There is a pizzeria, as well as
several local restaurants and diners.
For a bit more upscale, try Terrios, Drakes, or the Clubhouse
at the Word of Life Inn.
